Entertainers are now competing with robots. Wonder if the robots may get to perform in the half time show at next year’s Superbowl.

BERLIN, 10 February 2016: Mario who works in a hotel Ghent, Belgium and represents a new genre of hotel staff, will visit ITB Berlin’s hotel conference as a special guest of the ITB Hospitality Day, 10 March.

He is the youngest employee at the Ghent Marriott Hotel in Belgium. Standing 57 cm tall and weighing only 6 kg, he speaks 19 languages. He’s a robot.

His presence hints of the direction the hospitality industry is taking as it attempts to cut costs, but at the same time raise its game in service standards and communications.

Last month, Tesla Motors introduced the “Summon” feature in its 7.1 software update which allows its cars to enter or exit parking spots or garages without the driver in the car.

On Monday, in a blog post titled “Enhancing Safety and Convenience with Summon”, Tesla outlined three reasons why it believes the Summon feature will push automotive safety and convenience forward.

“While many of (the new features from the update) move the ball forward toward a safer autonomous future,” Tesla said in the blog post, “none is more significant than the remote parking technology known as Summon.”

RLOL — headline alone is priceless. However, who does get blame? And, on what grounds? Negligence in the design of the product or bad product quality? What about improper application of the product because it was designed for a particular set of the population & not for a broader public use. What about the businesses using AI? Wonder what type of insurance & the amount of insurance a business would be will be required to have in place to utilize a robot cook, or robotic nurse, etc. Lots & lots of things that still require planning, restructuring, & budgeting.

As long as there is no level of “personable experience/ empathy” AI will not eliminate the need for doctors or other medical staff members. For example, a female of 30 yrs of age newly married talking to a stone face robot that she has stage 3 breast cancer for first time. Yep; I see that one going well.

Plus, can you imagine how children in hospital wards for several months at a time will come out with only robots w/ no “EMPATHY.” I believe there are plenty of pyshcological case studies on this. If you ever want to advance AI; you must have women heavily embedded in its development as well as leading the work around it; or you will never get there.

Here’s another thought — can you imaging the potential lawsuits in the making because a child was proven to be impacted by only having interactions with robots in the children’s ward for months a time. Especially, when the robots that cannot connect due to the lack of design of “empathy”. Who gets sued? Hospitals, tech companies, etc.? This list could go on and on. So, again you must have various perspectives in the AI design in place or you could really be in trouble on a large scale.

Imagine your child requires a life-saving operation. You enter the hospital and are confronted with a stark choice.

Do you take the traditional path with human medical staff, including doctors and , where long-term trials have shown a 90% chance that they will save your child’s life?

Or do you choose the robotic track, in the factory-like wing of the hospital, tended to by technical specialists and an array of robots, but where similar long-term trials have shown that your child has a 95% chance of survival?

When is industry finally going to finally understand that the gap all along has been the lack of women leading NextGen Innovation especially around AI?

Here we go again trying to make AI more enriched. This time it is using a “dashcam” which again is a technique that is like living in a bubble looking at the world; meaning no true human experience or empathy programmed within AI. We must develop AI with an inside-out approach along with the outside-in approach; and not just an outside-in approach. And, it can be done because women understand this piece extremely well and can build AI to include this perspective because of how we interact and see the world.

Former Google exec and Android co-founder Andy Rubin has announced his latest designs for the tech industry — and his plans to take over what he considers the most important technological frontier of the decade: artificial intelligence.

Rubin laid out his latest tech endeavor, in an exclusive with Wired: a mission to more or less monopolize the artificial intelligence (AI) pocket of the market. While Rubin’s newest tech incubator Playground Global is the tech mogul’s gateway toward this endgame, it appears that the godfather of Android is only willing to concretely reveal one facet of his vision: a plan to create a visual traffic map with help from a free device and an unusual business model.

The big reveal came in the form of Playground’s dashcam hardware, accompanied by an unprecedented plan for the cam’s data. According to Rubin, the device would be given away to customers with one caveat: unhindered company access to each dash cam’s data set.

AI designed badly will indeed have detrimental impact for decades to come. We do have a crisis in AI world. Where are the women? With AI today, we’re developing the underlying foundation for AI in the future. And, without women in a large half of that development; we run a huge risk of failure by designing a foundation that only connects with maybe 40% of the world. That means 60% of missed opportunity is left on the table plus lets face it women totally understands how (better than anyone else) to incorporate feelings & thoughts together.

There’s no doubt Stephen Hawking is a smart guy. But the world-famous theoretical physicist recently declared that women leave him stumped.

“Women should remain a mystery,” Hawking wrote in response to a Reddit user’s question about the realm of the unknown that intrigued him most. While Hawking’s remark was meant to be light-hearted, he sounded quite serious discussing the potential dangers of artificial intelligence during Reddit’s online Q&A session:

Here is a concept to think about when we’re 20 or 30 years into the future — imagine a world where humans and all living things in it are truly Singular, and the new AI & Humanoid robots are alive and well. Will AI (including Robots) ever need therapy, will AI ever get stressed out or have panic attacks, will any humans know what AI is thinking once we give AI more independence?

I ask these questions because as we enhance and evolve AI to be like humans and interpret and process emotions, feelings, and interact like humans; will AI expeience fully the struggles of everyday life like some humans do? And, when needs counseling or therapy will they go to another AI or will they see a human therapist?

As we evolve AI; we must look at the full longer picture around AI including how human do we really wish to make AI.

Two weeks ago, the Internet Archive started its new Political TV Ad Archive, which monitors television stations in 20 markets in eight U.S. states to compile a list of 2016 primary-election advertisements & uses audio fingerprinting algorithms to automatically flag each one airing of those spots.

[Who are all those smiling people in crusade advertisements?]

The project will create a public database of political television ads in the 2016 race, where they are running & who is paying for them. Since the end of Nov., the archive has identified 267 distinct ads that, if broadcast end to end, would total 196 minutes. They have aired a collective 72,807 times on the stations it’s monitoring.
